How To Get Pregnant

I have a friend who is worried that she is pregnant because she had sex with her boyfriend and the condom broke before he came inside her! She is freaking out! She is getting information from others saying that she should calm down, that there is no way that she is pregnant, but I want to know for sure. She has been taking her birth control for less than 30 days. ((add links if you find articles on it, or know of any please))

If you look on your birth control pill fact sheet, almost all of them say that the first two weeks (one for the patch, two for mini-pills) should be accompanied by another form of birth control as well. This is more important if you start birth control during the middle of your cycle, as you could ovulate before the birth control has time to regulate your system. Have her look at the fact sheet that comes with the birth control or look it up online.

If she’s been taking her birth control for more than 14 days or started it at the beginning of her last period, she should be fine.

BUT just because you are on birth control does not mean you can’t get pregnant. Birth control is not 100% effective, and it’s effectiveness goes down with the amount of body fat you have above the "IDEAL" range. How you actually take your birth control pill and any medications or supplements you take also affect it’s effectiveness.

The only type of birth control that would be unaffected by things such as body weight or medications would be an IUD.

I’m 22 & pregnant for the first time & I never knew it could be so lonely.
I know it’s for the best that the father of my unborn child isn’t in our lives, but I still get so lonely & wish he’d get his act together. I have the ultrasound appt scheduled for next month to find out what I’m having & it was so important to me for him to be there but he’s not. Just thinking of when I’ll be having the baby makes me break down & cry because although I know this is for the best, part of me longs for him to be there. I had been with him since I was 15. He’s the only guy I’ve ever been with. He really screwed me over when i got pregnant. He recently began dating someone else & doesn’t even talk to me. The one & only time he did, he threatened me & called me a c*nt 30 times. He was never like this before. He’s like a different person.

So to all you amazingly strong mothers out there who did it yourselves, how did you fight the loneliness? I’ll be eternally grateful to anyone that can help me.

I am a married mother so I can not relate to what you are saying, but I can imagine. So I hope my advice will help…

Lean on your friends and family. My best girlfriend is like a sister to me (I only have one brother), and she was just as much a part of my pregnancy and birth as my husband was. How does your family feel about the pregnancy? Do you live close to them? Do you live at home? Would you be opposed to moving back home with them if they let you? That may be an option. Your parents (assuming they are still around), should want to best for you. Bring your mom to an ultra sound appointment. She will love it. My husband could not get out of work for one of my ultra sounds, and I brought my mom.. I think it made her month to be able to see her first grandchild! (especially since ultra sounds were not available when I was being born (I am 34).

And you are right, to cut this guy out of your life. The hard part will be sticking to your decision. Keep in mind what is best for your baby. And some guy calling his baby’s mom a C*nt, and threatening her is not a person you want around your kid.

It is hard with 2 parents, let alone 1, but it can be done! It is done everyday by thousands of woman. You were strong enough to realize he is no good, you are strong enough to handle this.

I am 6-7 weeks pregnant and I started spotting yesterday morning at 6:30. It is a brownish color and didn’t stop all day. I am still spotting today and I am getting pretty worried something is wrong. The doctor says to keep an eye on it, so they don’t seem to be worried. But as an instinct, I have to be worried! Should I be this worried, or is this normal? I know light spotting is normal, but to go on this long to me is not normal. Has this happened to anyone else? What was the outcome? Thank you.

I spotted old blood(brown) from week 5 to week 7! I never though it was going to end. But I did but my body just needed to get ride of all the old blood. I would say something at your 8 week appt if you are still bleeding but i’m sure they will tell you its old blood if its brown.

Well after thinking it over and over again about being pregnant again i want to be i didn’t want to be at one point because i have a 9 month old and i felt like i’d be replacing her but i know i have enough love and time for the both of them:) but see i have irregular periods and after i had her i had four periods after not having one for the first month after i had her of course but my last one was in november or oct. which me and her daddy used protection but we didn’t on feb the 26th and i’ve been getting symptoms such as cravings eating alot fuller breast they was kinda sore but now they are just fuller and i have this whitish discharge and some others. but could i of gotten pregnant that one time we did it? we’ve had unprotected sex 4 or 5 times but my nurse said that you can get pregnant without a period and its not harder to get pregnant weather you have a period or not so what do you think could i of got pregnant that one time because i know the other four times i wouldn’t have symptoms this early but the time on feb the 26th i would

To answer your question without any uhhs and ahhs just go to your doctor to see if you are really pregnant.

Ok me and my ex had sex on the 12 th of this month and we didn’t use a condom and we were on doing it for like 20minutes Straight no breaks. my period comes on this week on the 18th. last nite ask him what are you doing he said im thinking about our baby cuz your pregnant…WTF

Get a test. Get away from the boy because he’s creepy and unresponsable. You can go to planned parenthood clinics and get a day after pill, I think it might be too late now, but in the future. You really need to use protection. You can’t count on a guy, because really in the end, who’s gonna be pregnant? YOU. Not him, you. He can say I love you all he wants, but he really doesn’t love you very much if he doesn’t respect you enough to use protection.

I recently gave birth to my daughter Francesca 6 months ago in August. In October, I had an IUD put in. 3 days ago, I took a pregnancy test and it came out positive. I went to the gyno. today, and she checked me. Nothing went wrong with my IUD, it was completely in place. She just said I was obviously very fertile if I got pregnant with and IUD, and plus with breast feeding. My family is extremely judgmental, and when I got pregnant with my daughter, they were all very upset. I just do not want the same thing to happen; will my family try and find a reason to be disappointed in me even though this isn’t my fault?
I am engaged to be married to their father in June, 2011. He works full time and makes $13 an hour, with benefits. We are both in school, he’s soon to be enrolled in police academy, i’m graduating high school (1 year late) with a 3.5 gpa, and then moving on to city college.

No u are def.not being irresponsible for not getting an abortion, u tried to prevent another pregnancy and it didn’t work out and now taking responsibility for that child is the responsible thing to do. I don’t know whether ur family will try and find a reason to be disappointed in u even though this isn’t ur fault, as i don’t know ur family, but stay strong and keep telling them u weren’t trying for another baby and actually was trying to prevent it, and hope that they will eventually understand.
